Choosing a Website Layout

Choose a website layout and preview it with your church's current content.

Choose a layout that makes your church's most useful information easy to find. You need Edit website content access and must open the home page in the website editor first.

Note

A layout arranges your home page. A site look changes colors, cards, and other visual surfaces. See Choosing a Site Look to change the look without changing the layout.

Choose and preview a layout

1

Open the layout list

On the home page, select Site design, then Layout. The current layout appears beside the menu label.
Each layout includes a short description of the information it emphasizes.
2

Try a layout

Select a layout to preview it on the page. Use the descriptions in the list to compare what each one emphasizes, then scroll through the whole page. The available layouts may differ for a church, community, or school.
3

Check layout-specific choices

Some layouts add another choice to Site design. Conversation Starter adds Cover photo, with No photo, Full bleed, Split view, and Featured photo options. Classic adds Motion, with Still, Subtle, and Parallax options.
4

Save or publish

Select Save draft to keep the layout private, or select Publish and confirm to make it visible to visitors.

Check the result

After saving, the toolbar reads Saved. After publishing, leave the editor with Done and check the home page as a visitor. Your text and photos remain in the website configuration, but each layout may show or arrange them differently.

If something looks wrong

  • If a section seems to be missing, scroll through the full preview. The new layout may place it elsewhere or may not display that section.
  • If the look cannot be changed, check the selected layout. Broadsheet uses Classic and Almanac uses Stillwater; choose another layout to make Look available.
  • If you do not want to keep an unsaved choice, open More and select Discard unsaved changes.
