View donation history, enter cash and check gifts, export reports, and manage giving categories.
The Giving section gives you a complete view of your church's donations. You can track online gifts automatically, enter cash and check donations manually, import historical records in bulk, and export reports for your bookkeeper or accountant.
Giving Dashboard
The giving dashboard shows this month's totals at a glance: total amount given, number of donations, unique donors, and average gift size. A percentage change indicator compares the current month to the previous month. The right side of the page shows an all-time summary with the cumulative total received and total donation count. Recent donations are listed below with donor name, category, time, and amount.
Viewing Donation History
The History page shows individual transactions with full detail on amounts, fees, and payment methods. To access it:
1
Go to Giving History
From the Giving section, click History. Each row in the All Donations view shows date, donor name and email, category, amount, processing fees, net received, payment method, and any note.
2
Filter by year and category
Use the Year dropdown to select the year you want to view. The available years are populated from your actual donation data. You can also filter by category or search by donor name, email, or note. Click Apply Filters to refresh the results.
3
Switch to the By Donor view
Click the By Donor tab to see a summarized view grouped by individual donor. Each row shows total given, total fees, fees covered by the donor, net amount, number of donations, average gift, and the dates of their first and last donation. From this view you can also download a PDF tax statement for any donor by clicking the download icon on their row.
Tip
The History page always shows four summary cards at the top: Total Donations, Processing Fees (with a count of how many were covered by donors), Net Received, and Unique Donors with the average gift. These reflect whatever filters are currently applied.
Manual Donation Entry
Use manual entry to record cash and check gifts that did not come through online giving. You must have at least one active giving category before you can record a manual donation.
1
Go to Manual Entry
From the Giving section, click Manual Entry.
2
Select the donor type
Choose Existing Member to search your member directory and link the donation to a specific person, or choose Anonymous to record the donation without a donor name. There is no option to create a new member from this form.
3
Enter the details
Fill in the amount, giving category, and donation date. Select the payment method: Cash or Check. If you select Check, a check number field appears and is required. You can also add an optional note.
4
Record the donation
Click Record Donation to save. The donation will appear in Giving History alongside online donations.
Note
Manual entries appear on the donor's giving statement just like their online gifts and are included in all exports and reports.
Importing Donations
If you have historical donations to add in bulk (for example, from a platform like Tithely), use the Import feature. The import is a three-step wizard:
1
Upload File
Navigate to Giving then Import. Upload a CSV file containing your donation records. The page also shows any recent import sessions you can resume.
2
Review Matches
After the file is processed, the wizard shows each record and attempts to match donors to existing members in your directory. Review the matches and resolve any unmatched records by assigning them to a member or marking them as anonymous. Unmatched records that are neither assigned nor marked anonymous will be skipped.
3
Confirm Import
The final step shows a summary: total records, how many are ready to import, how many are unmatched and will be skipped, and how many are anonymous. Click Import to finalize. This action cannot be undone.
Warning
Records that remain unmatched and are not marked as anonymous will be skipped during import. Go back to the Review step to assign them before confirming if you want to include them.
Exporting to CSV
You can export your donation data at any time. The export respects the current view and filters on the History page.
1
Open Giving History and set filters
Navigate to Giving then History. Select the year, category, and any search terms you need. Switch between the All Donations tab and the By Donor tab depending on which format you want.
2
Click Export CSV
Click the Export CSV button in the top-right. The file generated matches the current view:
All Donations export includes: date, time, transaction ID, donor name and contact info, category, amount, processing fee, whether the fee was covered by the donor, net amount, payment method, tax deductible flag, note, anonymous flag, and Stripe charge ID.
By Donor export includes: donor name and contact info, total given, total fees, fees covered count, net amount, number of donations, average donation, and first and last donation dates.
Tip
For end-of-year tax reporting, filter to the relevant year, switch to the By Donor view, and export the CSV. You can also download individual PDF tax statements directly from the By Donor table.
Managing Giving Categories
Giving categories (sometimes called funds) organize donations by purpose. You can add, rename, or deactivate categories at any time from the Categories page under Giving.
Common categories include:
General Fund
Building Fund
Missions
Benevolence
Youth Ministry
Each category can have an optional description, a fundraising goal amount, and a color. One category can be marked as the default, which pre-selects it on the giving form. Categories also display their current total and progress toward any goal you set.
Warning
Deleting a category performs a soft delete: the category is marked inactive and stops appearing as an option for new donations, but all historical donation data is preserved. The default category cannot be deleted.
Donor Giving Statements
To generate a tax statement PDF for an individual donor, go toGiving History, select the By Donor view, choose the relevant year, and click the download icon on the donor's row. The statement covers all their donations for that year. A batch option to generate statements for all donors at once is also available from the top of the By Donor view.
